Canvas Care and Warning Instructions
The canvas products that you have acquired were
constructed with the finest materials available, the following
information is being provided to help you maintain the appearance and
ease of operation, please take a moment to review the canvas cares and
warnings.
Frames: Salt water and salt air have a highly corrosive effect on
most metal products used on your frames and hardware. To maintain the
appearance of your frames and hardware you should rinse them down
periodically with fresh water and occasionally wax them with an
appropriate after market product.
Fasteners: Most fasteners are nickel/chrome-plated brass or
stainless steel. These fasteners along with zippers should be lubricated
with a silicone spray on a regular basis, lubricating these fasteners
will keep them free from salt and dirt along with keeping them in good
working condition.
Fabric: Most fabrics are susceptible to mildew. Mildew results
when a cover is folded when wet, or stored in a damp place. Never let
tree sap or leaves collect on your top or cover, this may cause dry
rotting or ugly stains. Apex recommends that you clean your cover or top
while it is installed on the boat, letting it dry completely so
shrinkage does not occur. For your covers and tops always use fresh warm
water, mild soap, and a soft brush. For additional care and cleaning
information please visit the links below.

Vinyl glass: When the vinyl glass is made a plasticizer is added, the
plasticizer softens the vinyl, eventually the plasticizer will leech out,
this is caused by ultraviolet rays from the sun, salt water and cold
temperatures. These conditions cause discoloring, stiff and brittle
curtains. Slowing this process down can be done by simply cleaning the vinyl
on a regular basis. Rinse vinyl curtains off with fresh water to remove any
dirt or salt spray, allow to dry, polish with a commercial plastic polish,
these products seal pores in the vinyl glass for a protective coating that
makes future cleanings easier. Always insure that curtains made of clear
vinyl are handled with extra care, they should be rolled not folded which
will prevent cracking.
Warning: Operating and /or transporting
your Boat at high speeds with the top in the upright position may result in
the dismounting or damage to frames and/or canvas. Never transport your boat
with the cockpit and bow covers installed. Visor, Side Ctns. and Aft Ctns.
are not designed for long term storage or to be used while the boat is under
power. Hazardous fumes may collect underneath causing injury. For long term
storage Apex recommends purchasing cockpit cover, bow cover or mooring
cover.
